Railway to Restructure its Property and Land, Legal and IT Departments

Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique, approved re-structuring and strengthening of Legal and I.T Departments. Decision was taken after three consecutive high-level meetings at Pakistan Railways Headquarters.

Development was made following the re-structuring plan of Property and Land department. Minister was briefed about the detailed organogram of the Land department on divisional level by Director Property and Land Mr. Arshad Salam Khatak.

The Land Department would be established along the lines of revenue department. He said land management system requires technologies with capacity and staff to manage real estate efficiently. Officers would use Geographic information system to manage accurate inventory of our land bank.

Railway Minister constituted a working committee under CEO Railways that would come up with proposals for posts lying vacant in different departments. He stressed that new vacancies shall be filled up with technical staff and employees would only be given extension if their performance is found satisfactory.

In another meeting, Minister was briefed on passenger coaches’ upgradation project. He directed officials, not to compromise on quality of material used in upgradation.

He was briefed in detail about 100 coaches and material used in their upgradation. The meeting was attended by Advisor to Minister on Railways, Anjum Pervez and other high officials.
