Islamabad to Get a New Amusement Park & Golf Course

Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) is planning to open an amusement park and a golf course in Shakarparian, Islamabad. It will be developed over an area of 25 acres with assistance from a private company named Vega.

According to the Managing Director PTDC, Abdul Ghafoor, Vega Modern Tourism Solutions will conduct a survey and prepare a comprehensive report on the possible areas of investment and the amount required for such projects.

Vega’s Department of Information Technology will also be developing an Online Reservation System for PTDC which will allow tourists to make reservations through its website for PTDC motels. The company will sponsor Islamabad City Bus Tour for its decorations as well.

In recent times, PTDC has been offering many investment projects through public private partnership and joint ventures to promote local and foreign tourism in Pakistan.

MD PTDC said “In this regard, we have launched many projects including City Tour Bus Service, making of documentary films, upgradation of existing facilities and setting up new tourism projects in Islamabad and other parts of the country.”

He added that the organization plans on increasing the number of rooms available at existing PTDC motels. For the aforementioned reason, PTDC has contacted manufacturers of prefabricated structures and new rooms will be added to motels in Naran, Ayubia and other prominent motels very soon.

Abdul Ghafoor thinks that Pakistan can be ranked amongst the top tourist destinations in the world once the proper infrastructure is in place and the country’s global reputation improves.

The PTDC also plans to participate in international tourism and travel exhibitions while partnering with provincial tourism organizations, hoteliers, airlines and tour operators to increase the number of foreign tourists in Pakistan.
