To fit another piece in the Nokia smartphones series, HMD Global announced the specs, details, and release date of the all-new Nokia 2.
Nokia 2 is an entry-level smartphone with a 5-inch display and 1GB RAM. The main highlight, however, is the massive battery capacity of the Nokia 2 – it is powered by a 4,100mAh unit which can provide 2-days of usage on one charge if used 5 hours per day.
A good battery life is to be expected as the phone has a 720p, 5-inch display and the chipset is a modest Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 212. Regarding Nokia 2’s battery, the chief product officer of HMD Global, Juho Sarvikas said,
“Every component of the Nokia 2 — from the display to battery, chipset to system design — has been engineered to draw as little power as possible from the huge battery.”
The 5-inch display has a resolution of 720×1280 pixels. It is an LTPS In-Cell Touch display and HMD claims that this display is “best-in-class” due to it’s 1:1300 contrast ratio. Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection sits on top of this display.
Expectedly, the primary camera is a low-end 8-megapixel shooter, has autofocus and is paired with an LED flash. The front camera is a decent 5-megapixel unit. We can’t expect high-end features in the Nokia 2’s camera as it’s a low-end entry-level phone.
The Nokia 2 will be a sturdy phone thanks to its premium design packed with a polycarbonate body and HMD’s 6000 series aluminum frame. It is IP52-certified – drip protection against the occasional accident involving water.
Nokia 2 will be running Android Nougat 7.1 out of the box and an update to Android Oreo 8.0 has been promised. The UI of Nokia phones generally gives stock android-like experience because it only has a few built-in apps.
Surprisingly, the Nokia 2 will have Google Assistant built-in. Nokia 2 is one of the first entry-level phones to sport Google Assistant functionality.
Nokia 2’s price in Pakistan has not been made official yet. It costs €99 globally which is roughly Rs 12,000.
It will come in three colors – Pewter/Black, Pewter/White, and Copper/Black. It will launch in mid-November.
