Samsung has unveiled the updates for its prime mid-range A-series phones. The new A8 (2018) and A8+ (2018) come with wider Infinity Edge displays, waterproofing and dual front-facing cameras.
The metal-based design now comes with added functionality thanks to its IP68 certification (allowing dust and water resistance), and comes in Black, Gold, Grey and Blue.
The display also comes with a wider Infinity Edge design, in either 5.6 or 6-inch (A8+) iterations. It comes with a curved glass panel.
Under the hood, you get an octa-core processor with 4 GB RAM on the smaller version, with the Plus version coming with optional 6 GB RAM. Storage options range between either 32 or 64 GB, with microSD card slots on both phones.
The back comes with a bright 16 MP f/1.7 sensor with LED Flash and digital image stabilization. Hyper Lapse mode is also available.
More-importantly, the front comes with a dual 16 + 8 MP sensor, with Live Focus allowing background blur.
The battery is one of the few aspects not shared between the two devices, with the smaller phone coming with a 3,000 mAh cell and the Plus version coming with a 3,500 mAh unit. Both support fast-charging.
The Galaxy A8 will be available for 499 Euros, while the A8+ available for 599 Euros. More details should follow at the CES event next month.
