This Wednesday, the National Accountability Bureau opened their doors to the general public. According to their statement, corruption and similar practices can now be reported directly to their headquarters or branches spread around Pakistan.
Accordingly, the complaint registration offices will only be open on every last Thursday of a month between 2 pm to 4 pm.
Javed Iqbal, NAB’s Chairman who assumed office 2 months ago, made this decision – he already holds a public conference every month’s last Thursday.
After hearing the public’s feedback and complaints in during the past two months, the Chairman ordered all NAB Regional Bureaus and their DG’s to start hearing complaints from the public every month’s last Thursday so that potential jurisdictional complaints can be forwarded and addressed appropriately by the relative authorities.
Javed Iqbal has been praised by the people for individually listening to their corruption-related complaints. Reportedly, he used to listen to complaints for up to 7 hours per session.
NAB Bureaus in all major cities – including Karachi, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Peshawar, Multan, Sukkur, Gilgit Baltistan, and Quetta have been ordered by the Chairman to follow suit and open their doors to the public and hear their complaints from 2 pm to 4 pm every month’s last Thursday.
The NAB officers in their respective Bureaus will listen to complaints respectfully while also taking receipts from the complainants containing clear Unique Identification Numbers in order to keep track of all applications with no confusion.
