This Politician is Campaigning from Garbage Dumps to Manhole Covers to Highlight Issues in Karachi

In a unique display of protest, an election candidate from Karachi, Ayaz Memon Motiwala, has asked for votes by sitting in garbage dumps and delivering a speech from a manhole in a bid to draw the attention of residents towards the unhygienic conditions in the city.

His video on Facebook now has 827,332 views.

Mr. Motiwala’s campaign for elections is unique and he is becoming pretty famous amongst the masses due to his clever use of social media. The faulty sewage system of Karachi – like that of Lahore as we have seen during the recent rains – needs a lot of attention and Motiwala is definitely doing that in his own bizarre way.

An independent candidate contesting for National Assembly (NA-243) as well as for Provincial Assembly (PS-110, PS-111), Motiwala has been seen lying down in sewage water in order to bring the issue into focus.

With General Elections scheduled on July 25, Motiwala has grabbed quite a few eyeballs. S0me are labeling his actions as an attention-seeking stunt, while others are supporting him for highlighting a pressing issue.

Aspiring to clean the mess in Karachi, the election candidate has been often seen arranging a host of events including ‘Gutter Sewerage Road Fashion Show’, ‘Garbage Musical Festival’ and whatnot.

His popularity on Facebook can be gauged by the more than 3 lakh likes his page has gained in a short time.
