PM Reconstitutes ECC and ECNEC With Finance Minister as Chairman

Prime Minister Imran Khan has reconstituted the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet and Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) with the Federal Minister for Finance, Revenue & Economic Affairs Asad Umer, as its chairman.

A notification of the Cabinet Secretariat states,

In continuation of Cabinet Division’s Notification of even number dated 27th August, 2018 and in terms of rule 17(2) of the Rules of Business 1973, the Prime Minister has been pleased to re-constitute the Economic coordination committee (ECC) of the Cabinet with the following composition of members:

  • Minister of Finance, Revenue & Economic Affairs (Chairman),
  • Minister for communication (When appointed),
  • Minister for Law & Justice,
  • Minister for Maritime Affairs,
  • Minister for National Food Security & Research,
  • Minister for Petroleum,
  • Minister for Power,
  • Minister for Planning, Development & Reform,
  • Minister for Privatization,
  • Minister for Railways,
  • Minister for Statistics (when appointed) ,
  • Minister for Water Resources,
  • Minister of State for Communications,
  • Adviser on Commerce, Textile, Industry & Production & Investment,
  • Adviser on Institutional Reforms & Austerity

Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission (When appointed), Governor, State Bank of Pakistan, Chairman, Securities Exchange Commission of Pakistan, Chairman, Board of Investment, Secretary, Commerce Division, Secretary, Communications Division, Secretary, Economic Affairs Division, Secretary, Finance Division, Secretary, Industries & Production Division, Secretary, National Food Security & Research, Division, Secretary, Planning, Development & Reform Division, Secretary, Petroleum Division, Secretary, Power division, Secretary, Railways Division, Secretary, Revenue Division, Secretary, Statistics Division, Secretary, Textile Division, Secretary, Water Resources Division would be invited by special invitation:

Meanwhile, in another notification issued by the Cabinet Secretariat/Cabinet Division, Prime Minister Imran Khan also reconstituted the eight-member Executive Committee of National Economic Council (Ecnec) with Federal Minister for Finance Asad Umer, as its chairman.

The notification states,

The Prime Minister has been pleased to constitute the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC). The composition of the committee shall be as under:

  • Asad Umer, Minister for Finance, Revenue & economic Affairs (Chairman).
  • Makhdoom Khusro Bukhtaiar, Minister for Planning, Development & Reform,
  • Abdul Razak Dawood, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce, Textile, Industry & Production & Investment,
  • Dr. Ishrat Hussain, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Institutional Reforms & Austerity,
  • Makhdum Hashim Jawan Bakht, Minister for Finance, Punjab,
  • Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Sindh, Member.
  • Taimur Saleem Khan Jhagra, Minister for Finance, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
  • Nawabzada Tariq Khan Magsi, Minister for Communication & Works Department, Balochistan.

Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission (When appointed), Secretary, Economic Affairs Division, Secretary, Finance Division, Secretary and Planning, Development & Reform Division would be invited on special invitation for all agenda items.

Other officers of the Federal-Provincial Governments as well as of the government of AJ&K, Gilgit-Baltistan & FATA shall be invited to the meetings of ECNEC on a need basis.
