Azfar Manzoor is the New Chairman of PITB

The Punjab government has appointed Azfar Manzoor as Chairman, Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB). A notification has also been issued in this regard.

Azfar has extensive experience in the software, internet, and telecom domain. He has been serving as a representative of Pakistan’s broadband industry on the Board of the Universal Service Fund (USF). The new chairman also remains the Regional Chairperson for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Azfar Manzoor has been serving as a Vice President, Mobilink, overseeing the telecom operator’s B2B business unit. He was also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of LINKdotNET Telecom and on the board of Waseela Bank.

With over 30 years of experience in the B2B, B2C, and C-level leading cross-functional teams, he specializes in business strategy and operations, development, merger, and acquisitions for start-ups and renowned companies in the Telecom, Internet, and Technology space.

Before joining Mobilink, Azfar had taught in the MIT for a brief period and worked in the US for National Semiconductors Inc. He also worked in Cambridge Technology Partners for a while.

Azfar was also the founding member of two startups including WOL Telecom. Under his leadership, the small startup Internet Service Provider became a leading brand in the internet space of Pakistan covering over 500 cities and towns.

The tech-expert holds a BS and an MS in Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences from MIT. He also has an MBA from Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).

It is pertinent to mention here that the post of Chairman PITB became vacant in November 2018 when Dr. Umar Saif stepped down from this post. It was later filled by Chairman Planning and Development, Dr. Habeeb-ur-Rehman Gillani.

With the recent development, Gillani will be relieved from his additional charge of Chairman PITB.
