Pakistani Teacher Wins Cambridge’s Most Dedicated Teacher Award

Against all the odds, a Pakistani teacher, Ahmed Saya, has won Cambridge University Press’ award for the ‘Most Dedicated Teacher’ 2019.

Saya, an A-level teacher from Karachi’s Cordoba School, was among the six brilliant teachers around the world shortlisted for the prize. The competition attracted entries of 3500+ teachers from over 140 countries for the prestigious award.

Cambridge’s official Twitter handle announced Saya as the winner of the 2019 Dedicated Teacher Award.

“We are pleased to announce the winner of the 2019 Dedicated Teacher Award goes to… Ahmed Saya from Cordoba School for A Level in Pakistan.” He was picked through the process of voting.

Twitterati also appreciated the efforts of other shortlisted teachers.

Other contestants include:

  1. Abhinandan Bhattacharya, JBCN International School: Oshiwara, India
  2. Anthony Chelliah, Gateway College, Sri Lanka
  3. Candice Green, St Augustine’s College, Australia
  4. Jimrey Dapin, University of San Jose-Recoletos, Philippines
  5. Sharon Kong Foong, Sunway College, Malaysia

Earlier, while announcing the shortlisted teachers, Cambridge said it was a tough call, but they shortlisted six teachers for this year’s Dedicated Teacher Awards.

With this prestigious award, Saya has also won a trip to Cambridge, UK, and he can continue professional development opportunities for his school, the website announced.
