Pakistan Bar Council Bans The Use of “Advocate” Number Plates

Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) has ordered the lawyer community of the country against putting ‘Advocate’ stickers on their cars and motorbikes.

The PBC has issued a circular in this regard which states that writing ‘Advocate’ on number plates is illegal and against the code of conduct.

“It has been observed that lawyers put ‘Advocate’ emblem to their vehicles with monograms of Supreme Court or High Courts which is a clear violation of Motor Vehicle Ordinance 1965 and PBC Code of Conduct,” the notification said.

The council also warned lawyers of serious disciplinary action in case of non-compliance.

“All the lawyer community is hereby advised to avoid using such number plates or they will face disciplinary action as per rules,” it added.
