Redmi Note 7 is making headlines every other day mainly due to the peculiar durability tests Xiaomi is conducting on it. The first one was when the phone was used as a cutting board. A number of fruits including an apple and a banana were cut on the screen using a large knife. It was a screen test to show how durable the display is.
The second test included Redmi Note 7 being stomped by people. This was the ultimate durability test to show how tough the screen is.
To prove its ultimate build quality, Xiaomi sent Note 7 to space. Yes, you heard that right, the phone was sent to space, not to take photos but to show how durable it is.
The phone was attached to an air balloon which popped when the air pressure decreased to 1 KPa at a height of 35,375 meters. The temperature was -58 degrees Celsius at that height and the fact that Redmi Note 7 was able to function at that temperature is commendable.
The phone took some pictures for proof as well. There is nothing special in the images, but they do prove the praiseworthy durability of the phone.
We have seen many enthusiasts sending cameras into space to capture pictures and videos of the setting sun but sending a smartphone for a durability test to space was a first.
