Rashid Latif Questions PCB’s Newly Announced Central Contracts

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has recently announced the list of 19 centrally contracted players amid speculations of new selection committee appointments.

Following Inzamam-ul-Haq’s retirement, the position of Chief Selector is vacant. The announcement of the new central contracts raises questions over PCB’s policies, considering that it’s the selection committee’s job to shortlist the players.

The top contender for Chief Selector post, Rashid Latif, has questioned the early announcement of the central contracts, saying that now there’s no need for a selection committee.

He added that it would have been better if PCB had announced the list of players after collaboration with the selection committee.

The former captain raised the question on Twitter.

He was of the view that the selection committee will now have to pick the players only from the contracted players.

Should PCB have delayed the central contracts until after the new Chief Selector had assumed the role? Let us know what you think.
