Oppo has announced three new phones in the Oppo Reno 2 lineup, the Reno 2, the Reno 2 Z and the Reno 2 F. All three phones feature quad-camera setups at the back with 6.5 inch AMOLED displays, what sets them apart are the internals.
As mentioned before, all three phones have 6.5 inch 1080p AMOLED displays, Oppo claims all devices offer screen-to-body ratios of 90%. The standard Reno 2 has a 16MP shark fin pop-up selfie camera, which pops out in just 0.8 seconds.
It is powered by the Snapdragon 730 SoC, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. All three devices feature a 4000 mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 fast charging (20W).
The four cameras at the back are arranged vertically in the center, the main camera uses the Sony IMX586 1/2.0” sensor and has optical image stabilization this time and it is also capable of a 5x hybrid zoom. The other three lenses include an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 13MP telephoto lens and finally, a 2MP monochromatic sensor for portraits.
The Oppo Reno 2 will go on sale in India on September 20 with a price tag of $515.
The Reno 2 Z and F will be the budget-oriented devices in the series. The Z features the same 6.5″ display with the same full HD resolution. This one also features a full-screen display but loses the sharkfin style front camera. Instead, it has a 16MP lens housed in a standard motorized pop-up camera.
Reno 2 Z is powered by the Helio P90 chipset with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The battery configuration is also unchanged.
It also features the 48MP Sony IMX586 primary camera sensor, but it lacks the optical image stabilization of the Reno 2. What it does retains, is the 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens combined with a pair of monochromatic cameras for portraits.
It will cost $465 when it goes on sale on September 20.
The camera setup on the Reno 2 F is similar to the Z, it is a 48MP main lens but it is using the Samsung ISOCELL GM1 sensor instead of the Sony IMX586. Accompanied by the same 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a pair of monochromatic portrait lenses.
The only other difference in the Reno 2 F is in its internal configuration. It also has 8GB RAM but the storage has been halved to 128GB, and the SoC is a lower power Helio P70 chipset.
Besides the chipset and camera sensor, the Oppo Reno 2 F is identical to the Reno 2 Z. It will go on sale in November, in India first. But there’s no word on pricing yet.
