Islamabad Traffic Police Officially Starts Implementing New Rules

In recent times, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has taken multiple steps to facilitate the traffic and ease congestion. In another step in this direction, the ITP has, following the directives of Interior Minister Ijaz Shah, introduced a new traffic policy in line with global standards. ITP has already started implementing the new policy and those found violating these are being fined.

According to the policy, smoking while driving is banned and it is compulsory for both passengers in the front seat to fasten their seat belt. It is also mandatory for the driver to have their driver’s license with them whilst driving. A maximum of three violations will result in the driving license to be suspended.

Under the directives of Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar, a special meeting chaired by Waqar Ahmed Chohan DIG (Security) took place on Thursday to review enactment of this policy. SSP (Traffic) Farrukh Rasheed, SP (Traffic) Khalid Rasheed, all Zonal DSPs and Inspectors also attended the meeting.

The SSP (Traffic) Farrukh Rasheed directed education team of ITP to create more awareness about this policy. He said that the public needs to be informed of the new laws with immediate effect.
