Umar Akmal & Ahmed Shehzad Return in Official Probable Squad for Sri Lanka Series

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced names of 20 probable players ahead of home series against Sri Lanka. The list includes names of Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal.

The two have made a surprise entry to the national circuit days after Misbah-ul-Haq assumed responsibilities as the Head Coach and Chief Selector of the national team.

Earlier this week, some media outlets had reported that Misbah wanted to give the two senior players another chance to revive their controversies-ridden careers.

Among other players are Asif Ali, Abid Ali, Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Hasnain, Usman Shinwari and Mohammad Nawaz.

Captain Sarfraz Ahmed, vice-captain Babar Azam, left opening pair Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq are also in the list.

Likewise, Haris Sohail, Hasan Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shadab Khan are also in the 20 probable names for the forthcoming series.

Sri Lanka is set to play three ODIs and as many T20Is in Pakistan between September 27 and October 9. Several senior Sri Lankan players have pulled out from the series citing security reasons.

However, sources claimed that the players did so on Indian pressure as they feared for their IPL contracts.
