NEPRA Increases Electricity Prices by Rs. 0.527 Per Unit

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased power tariff by Rs. 0.5272 per unit for domestic consumers.

This increase is due to quarterly adjustments and interim relief to the power distribution companies (Discos), said an official notification from NEPRA. This will allow Discos to recover Rs. 52.7 billion from domestic users.

The power regulator issued two separate notifications on Saturday for quarterly/ biannual adjustments and interim relief.

The first order notified an increment of Rs 0.3325 per unit in tariff for fuel adjustments from January 1, 2019, to June 30, 2019. It will have an impact Rs. 33 billion in recoveries. The other notification will allow power distributors to recover Rs. 19.7 billion, with an increase of Rs. 0.1947 per unit.

The new tariff will be applicable immediately.
