A brand sometimes puts out a device, claiming that you’re getting something high-end for less. Rarely is that actually true, but with the Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition or FE, it somewhat feels that way. It’s hard to even call it mid-range because it’s already got an Exynos 990 chipset, which is a solid alternative for the top of the line Snapdragon 865.
The S20 FE almost has an identical spec-list to the regular flagship S20, and it’s almost half the price. Watch ProPakistani’s Galaxy S20 FE unboxing below:
Similar to the base Note 20 Ultra, there’s a nice, big, bright 6.5-inch Super AMOLED HDR10+ screen featuring a punch-hole notch and slim bezels. It’s a 1080p panel, so we could tell it’s not Samsung’s highest-end display module. There’s a little bit of bezel, and it’s a flat, 120 Hz display.
The internals are driven by Exynos 990 chipset similar to the one supporting the basic Samsung Note 20 Ultra. On the software side, the S20 Fan Edition boots Android 10 fresh out of the box with Samsung’s One UI 2.5 on top.
Now, the triple camera system is cut back a bit from the rest of the S20 series. However, we didn’t find it lacking that much for the most part. The rear triple camera doesn’t suffer much in low-light as some of us thought it might. Even though there is no space-zoom past 30x, we didn’t experience any autofocus issues as we did with the Note 20 Ultra.
The punch-hole notch on the front features a 32MP selfie camera in Samsung’s smallest hole-punch cut-out ever. It’s a wide-sensor with autofocus, HDR, and 1080p video recording.
The battery is a 4500mAh unit equipped with 25W fast charging. Batter performance and power consumption work seamlessly; you can expect typical usage time between 24-36 hours.
