Utility Stores Demand Ramzan Package Worth Rs. 3.37 Billion

The Utility Stores Corporation (USC) is seeking a Rs. 3.37 billion package for Ramazan this year. This is in addition to Rs. 3 billion, which the government already earmarked in the budget for the current fiscal year, reported Express Tribune reported.

The Ministry of Industries and Production has sought the approval of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) for Rs. 6.37 billion under the Ramazan relief package. As per the newspaper report, this includes estimated expenses of Rs. 100 million on a media campaign. The ECC is expected to take up the matter in its upcoming meeting.

According to the ministry, the USC will provide a subsidy of up to Rs. 43 per kg on 19 commodities in the month of Ramazan under the package.

It will also provide subsidies of Rs. 30.50 per kg on the sale of wheat flour, Rs. 40 per kg on sugar, Rs. 43 per kg on ghee, Rs. 20 per kg on cooking oil, Rs. 30 per kg on masoor pulse, Rs. 25 per kg on white grams, Rs. 20 per kg on gram flour, Rs. 20 per kg on dates, Rs. 10 per kg on Basmati rice, Rs. 25 per bottle of squashes and syrups, Rs. 50 per kg on black tea, Rs. 20 per kg on milk and 10 percent on spices.
