Samsung Galaxy Quantum 2 Launched With a Special Security Chip

The security-focused Samsung Galaxy Quantum 2 has become official in Korea with a built-in security chip, the Snapdragon 855+ SoC, and more. Global availability for Quantum 2 is still unknown, but this will likely be revealed over the upcoming weeks.

Design and Display

The Galaxy Quantum 2 looks just like another Galaxy A-series phone. It has a 6.7-inch curved AMOLED display with 1440p resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It has a punch-hole selfie camera, an adaptive refresh rate, SGS eye care certification, 1200 nits max brightness, and an under-display fingerprint sensor.

The main camera on the rear panel features three lenses and an LED flash.

Internals and Storage

The Quantum 2’s main chipset is the Snapdragon 855+, the flagship SoC from 2019. This is paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage with is expandable through a microSD card slot.

The main highlight of the phone is its security features. The handset is loaded with a QRNG security chip developed by ID Quantique. This chip is capable of producing random numbers which are truly unpredictable and patternless to make it difficult for hackers or other attackers trying to gain access to the device.

This chip makes features like automatic payments highly secure.

As for software, you get Android 11 OS with One UI on top.

Cameras

The main camera on the back includes a 64MP main sensor accompanied by a 12MP ultrawide lens and a 5MP macro camera. These cameras are capable of recording 1080p videos at 60FPS and 4K videos at 30 FPS.

The punch-hole front camera is a 10MP shooter.

Battery and Pricing

The 4,500 mAh battery has support for 25W fast charging through the USB C port. This should allow you to charge up the device from 0 to 100% in less than 90 minutes.

The phone is available for sale in Korea for $623 (KRW 699,600). As mentioned earlier, there is still no word on global availability.
