Railway Official Makes a Shocking Claim About Train Accident

The Pakistan Railways (PR) had reportedly been aware of the vulnerability of the Sukkur division’s 900 km track almost two years prior to the recent accident near Daharki.

This has been claimed by Mian Tariq Latif, a superintendent for the PR Sukkur division.

He added that the point on the track where the tragic accident had occurred had been welded only, and the Railways authorities had cleared it for use after conducting a forensic audit two years ago.

The superintendent revealed that the entire track across the Sukkur division is welded. “There are around 6,000 joints on both up and down tracks in the Sukkur division, and the point where the tragedy has occurred is one of the welded joints,” he added.

While the officer continued to report these discrepancies to the PR authorities, he also claimed that “a man with questionable credentials is conducting an inquiry against me” for reporting the issue.

Meanwhile, the CEO of Pakistan Railways, Nisar Memon, has a different take on the matter. Although the tragic accident indicates otherwise, he stated that the safety of the passengers onboard could not have been compromised.

As per the directions of the government, an official investigation of the incident will ascertain the situation in the upcoming weeks.
