The United Kingdom (UK) government has issued new guidelines for travelers from Pakistan, mandating a five-day quarantine and PCR tests on arrival.
The United Kingdom (UK) Civil Aviation Authority (UK CAA) said that after 22 September, fully vaccinated people from Pakistan would be allowed to travel to the country.
However, all passengers will be required to serve the quarantine period at home as some of the vaccines administered in Pakistan are not approved by the UK government.
The British aviation authority said that the quality of recognized vaccines in Pakistan is not its [primary] concern, but it does have reservations about the process of issuing vaccination certificates in the country.
Therefore, the on-arrival PCR and quarantine conditions for Pakistani passengers will remain in place until the government of Pakistan formulates a credible mechanism for vaccine certification.
According to the new guidelines, even fully vaccinated passengers from Pakistan will undergo a PCR test and fill out a locator form. Then, they will serve a five-day quarantine, which could be ended after returning a negative PCR test on the fifth day.
The authorities in Pakistan are hopeful that the British government will start accepting Pakistani vaccination certificates after October 4.
Note that the British government has only recently lifted restrictions on travelers from Pakistan.
Before that, travelers from the country had to do quarantine for ten days in designated private hotels, which cost around £2,285 (Rs. 0.57 million) in terms of expenses.
