FBR Income Tax Filing System is Down

The Federal Board of Revenue’s income tax return filing system is choked and is not accepting returns and computerized payment receipts at banks as of today.

Tax practitioners told Propakistani that return filers are unable to log in to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) IRIS system to file their income tax returns. The system is inoperational and is unable to start the process of return filing due to a system crash.

The problem started today morning, and the system has failed to respond to the applications for the return filings.

When contacted, an FBR official told Propakistani that it is trying to resolve the issue on a top priority basis but the date will not be extended.

Its top officials explained that the FBR has installed extra IT machines and has used more bandwidth to increase the capacity of the return filing, but the system seems to be slow due to the heavy load.

They added that the system is under maximum load today, and that 1.8 million returns have been filed so far.
