Amazfit is releasing its third generation of GTR/S smartwatches exactly a year after the last generation. The wait was worth it as Amazfit has unveiled three smartwatches with improves displays and batteries along with new features.
Amazfit GTR 3 Pro
First up is the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro that is built out of aircraft-grade aluminum alloy and weighs only 32g. It has a larger display than before at 1.45” and is covered in curved glass. Even the refresh rate of the screen has been increased by 67%. It is a sharp 331 PPI display that can hit a very high peak brightness of 1,000 nits.
There are two buttons on the side, but the top one is a crown that can be used to scroll menus and notifications.
There are over 150 watch faces to choose from and each one has Always-On display support which is now simplified to save battery. You can also edit these watch faces to set up different widgets for heart rate, steps, weather, etc.
Health tracking features include 24/7 heart rate and blood oxygen (SpO2) tracking and it can do so much quicker than the last generation. Sleep tracking also includes different stages of sleep including naps during the day. You can also configure it to track your breathing while you sleep.
There are over 150 sports modes and the watch is 5 ATM water-resistant so it can be taken to swimming and it can track your heart rate while doing so. The Pro model even has support for satellite positioning which increases position lock and accuracy by 40%.
You can take calls thanks to a built-in microphone and speaker but you can also talk to Alexa or a built-in offline assistant. Battery life for normal use is 15 days but 7 days on heavy use. It’s only 35 hours with continuous GPS usage, but you can extend the battery life up to a full month with the battery saver mode.
The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro will cost $230 at launch.
Amazfit GTR 3
Amazfit GTR 3 is mostly just a cheaper version of the GTR 3 Pro. It has the same aluminum body, but it comes with silicone straps instead. The display is slightly smaller at 1.39”, but it has the same sharpness and peak brightness of 1000 nits. Its bezels are slightly thicker, however.
It lacks the loudspeaker from the GTR 3 Pro, so it cannot do voice calls.
Despite being the cheaper model, the GTR 3 has more battery life than the GTR 3 Pro, mostly due to the toned-down features. It can last 21 days through normal use but only 10 days with heavy use. Battery saver mode can take up to 35 days. Constant GPS tracking will bring it down to 35 hours.
The Amazfit GTR 3 is priced at $180.
Amazfit GTS 3
The GTS 3 comes with a rectangular watch face instead, similar to the Apple Watch. This should be more useful for reading more notifications and fitting more styles of watch faces. It even has a bigger screen than the rest with two models sized at 1.65” and 1.75”. It gets the same display sharpness and brightness as the rest, however.
It also has mostly the same features as the other two watches and will be offered in Graphite Black, Terra Rosa, and Ivory White color options. Despite being bigger, the watch weighs only 24.4g. This one also lacks a loudspeaker like the GTR 3.
The battery life is almost the same as the GTR 3 Pro. You can use it for 12 days with normal use, 6 days with heavy usage, and up to 25 days with the battery saver mode. GPS will bring it down to 20 hours.
It costs the same as the Amazfit GTR 3 at $180.
