As the country faces rising inflation, chicken prices in Punjab have increased again.
According to poultry dealers, the chicken price has increased by Rs. 37 per kilogram, taking the new price to Rs. 421 per kilogram. They blamed this increase on higher taxes.
A few weeks ago, chicken prices in the provincial capital had dropped by Rs. 39 per kilogram to Rs. 416 per kilogram. At that time, the chicken price had fallen by Rs. 259 per kilogram.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had promised to take action against those exploiting consumers. To tackle this issue, she ordered strict measures against poultry farmers and traders, including collecting stock data to investigate the sudden price hike.
