Over Half of Pakistan’s Population Uses Wood for Cooking

The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) has revealed that over half of the country’s population relies on wood for cooking. According to PBS data, 52.72 percent of the population uses wood as their primary cooking fuel.

The report also highlights that more than 1.4 million households use dung as fuel, while 45,000 households rely on kerosene for cooking. Additionally, the data indicates that 42.03 percent of people across the country have access to gas for cooking, while 392,000 households use alternative sources for meal preparation.

In terms of drinking water, the report disclosed that only 6.38 percent of the population has access to water filtration plants, and a mere 1.47 percent chooses bottled water. Furthermore, the data shows that 46.07 percent of the population uses motor pumps for drinking water, while 4.13 percent rely on well water.
