The German Consulate in Karachi has announced the resumption of visa services in the city, following a temporary suspension.
The German Consulate in Karachi had previously suspended visa services due to security concerns. However, they have now announced that these services will be reinstated.
“The Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Karachi, has resumed normal operation for non EU-citizens,” it said in a statement on Friday.
It is pertinent to mention that Germany is considered a favorite destination for Pakistanis. Last year, German missions received a record 19,095 visa applications from Pakistani citizens, surpassing the number of applications made to other Schengen countries.
Out of these applications, 11,630 were approved and 7,370 were denied. This high rejection rate placed Pakistan among the top ten nationalities with the most visa refusals from Germany in 2023.
Pakistani nationals also submitted a significant number of visa applications to other Schengen countries, including Spain (18,482), Italy (12,390), the Netherlands (11,389), and France (8,225).
In total, nearly 86,700 visa applications from Pakistan were processed for Schengen states, with about 49.6% being rejected. This high rejection rate made Pakistan the fourth-highest country in terms of visa application rejections for Schengen states.
Furthermore, Pakistanis spent €3.3 million on visa applications, the highest amount spent by any nationality despite the high rejection rates in 2023.
