Proposal Allowing Heavy Traffic on Lyari Expressway Strongly Opposed by NHA

Following the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, a committee was established, including the National Highway Authority (NHA) and other stakeholders, to evaluate the possibility of opening the Lyari Expressway to heavy traffic and to assess its capacity. Sources indicate that the NHA is firmly against opening the expressway to heavy traffic.

Additionally, it was noted that the consultant engineering associate for the Lyari Expressway was not part of the joint committee. A final report on the matter is expected to be submitted soon.

Recently, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) instructed its engineers to complete and open phase 2 of the Bund Road Project by July 31, as per the chief minister’s deadline. During a site visit, LDA officials emphasized speeding up construction by deploying additional workforce and machinery.
