Punjab Govt’s First Specialized Cancer Hospital to Feature 150 Beds in First Phase

Punjab is preparing to establish its first specialized cancer hospital, the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital. The initial phase of the project will feature 150 beds.

The initial phase of the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital, covering 333 kanal, will include 100 beds for adults and 50 for children, along with dedicated facilities for chemotherapy.

Furthermore, the first phase is expected to cost Rs. 3.26 billion. The Infrastructure Development and Economic Planning (IDEP) will manage the project, which has called for applications from private contractors to undertake the construction.

The hospital will be built in stages, with the first phase focusing on establishing chemotherapy services. Earlier this week, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif laid the foundation stone of Jinnah Medical Complex in Islamabad.

Covering approximately 800 kanal, it will feature advanced medical facilities designed to treat complex conditions, including diseases of the lungs, heart, kidneys, and cancer.

He stated that the Jinnah Medical Complex will serve as a hospital and include modern laboratories and nursing schools, where medical staff will receive advanced training and research.

The Prime Minister added that the medical complex will provide free treatment to underprivileged patients. He also stated that the facility will feature first aid emergency wards and an air ambulance service to quickly transport critical cases, such as accident victims, to the center.
