According to the notification from the Sindh College Education Department, the new academic session at colleges in Sindh will begin on August 15. Extending holidays until August 14 provides students and staff additional time off due to the severe weather conditions.
Previously, the Sindh Education Department extended summer vacations until August 14 due to the ongoing heatwave and anticipated heavy rains.
The notification also outlined plans for August 14, with schools and private institutions expected to organize Independence Day events to celebrate the occasion with enthusiasm.
Earlier, the Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMA) of Punjab and Sindh issued alerts about the possibility of flash floods affecting multiple cities in both provinces.
PDMA Sindh warned that the expected rainfall could lead to flash or urban flooding in municipalities, local nullahs, streams, and river tributaries.
