Cambridge International Education (CIE) has concluded its investigation into the leak of the AS Level Mathematics exam paper, which was leaked online before the exam.
After two and a half months of inquiry, the organization has decided to cancel the exam. Students will now receive their marks for the AS Level Mathematics course based on their performance in the second exam paper.
Cambridge informed school heads via email that they reviewed evidence showing that the AS Level Mathematics paper was accessed by many students in Pakistan before the exam.
Cambridge added: “Our priority is to make sure we are fair to the majority of students who did not cheat.” It further stated that they want to prevent any advantage gained through cheating, ensuring that all students are evaluated equally for university admissions.
Cambridge International Education explained that in May, they received reports about a possible leak of the AS Level Mathematics exam paper (9709, paper 12), which was held on May 2, 2024. They conducted a thorough investigation and appreciate the patience and cooperation of students and schools during this period.
