Govt Announces Rs. 5 Million Assistance for Families of Missing Persons

The federal government has announced plans to provide financial assistance and rehabilitation grants to families of missing persons. Specifically, families of individuals who have been missing for over five years will receive a grant of Rs. 5 million each. This initiative aims to support one thousand affected families.

During a media briefing in Islamabad, Federal Minister for Law Azam Nazir Tarar highlighted the impact of past global conflicts on Pakistan, including issues related to terrorism. He explained that the Afghan war has significantly contributed to terrorism in the country, and the government has been actively working on the recovery of missing persons.

Tarar mentioned that the PDM government had established a special committee to address the issue, which continued its efforts even during the caretaker government.

He emphasized the profound distress experienced by families of missing individuals and noted that a comprehensive report, developed in consultation with secret and state institutions, had been approved by the cabinet.
