A five-member delegation from Meta, led by Simon Milner, Vice President for Asia Pacific, met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday.
The meeting aimed to explore opportunities for collaboration in Pakistan’s information technology and digital media sectors.
The premier highlighted the vast potential in these sectors, emphasizing the government’s commitment to promoting information technology. He noted that a record budget has been allocated for this purpose, a first in Pakistan’s history.
He expressed his desire to leverage Meta’s expertise in information technology and artificial intelligence, directing relevant authorities to resolve any issues related to Meta’s operations in Pakistan.
The Meta delegation briefed the prime minister on their services in Pakistan and the Asia Pacific region. They shared their initiatives in Pakistan, including hosting the region’s first artificial intelligence competition.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating on the development and promotion of digital media and artificial intelligence sectors in Pakistan.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecom Shaza Fatima, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Jehanzeb Khan, Tania Aidrus, and other senior government officials.
