The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has forecasted rainfall across most districts in the province over the next 24 hours. According to the PDMA Director General, the Indus River is experiencing a low flood, while water levels in the Chenab, Ravi, Jhelum, and Sutlej rivers remain normal.
The PDMA reported that conditions in the hill torrents of Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan are currently stable. According to the Director General, residents from vulnerable areas have been relocated to secure locations.
It further stated that Tarbela Dam is filled, while Mangla Dam is at 71 percent capacity. Moreover, the water levels stand at 54 percent in Bhakra Dam, 53 percent in Pong Dam, and 26 percent in Thaen Dam.
The Basantar nullah in Narowal is currently at a low flood level, according to the PDMA spokesperson. Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a new alert warning of rain, wind, thunderstorms, and heavy downpours in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with isolated showers expected in Punjab until Saturday.
The authority has advised all relevant authorities and the public to take precautions to reduce the risks associated with potential flooding and landslides.
