The Punjab Cabinet has approved a set of allowances for the families of employees and officers who passed away while in service, marking a significant step toward supporting the welfare of these bereaved families.
Following the cabinet’s decision, the Punjab Finance Department issued a formal notification outlining the allowances that will be provided to the families of the deceased employees.
The approved allowances include a House Rent Allowance, a 20% Special Allowance, a Medical Allowance, a Utility Allowance, and an Ad Hoc Relief Allowance. These provisions aim to offer financial relief and stability to the families affected by the loss of their loved ones while in service.
The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar, who instructed Finance Secretary Mujahid Sherdil to prepare the necessary proposals for these allowances.
This move follows the precedent set by the Establishment Division in February 2015, which approved various grants for officers who died in service. The newly approved allowances by the Punjab Cabinet continue these efforts, further extending support to the families of public servants in the province.
