The Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC) announced on Tuesday that the passing marks for students will be raised from 33 to 40, starting from the next academic year.
During a press conference, IBCC Executive Director Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah also revealed that students will receive grace marks in exams as part of a broader educational reform initiative.
He explained that a sub-committee meeting at the Karachi Secondary Education Board reviewed various proposals and ultimately decided that all educational boards in the country will now require students to earn at least seven passing marks.
“The passing marks will be increased from 33 to 40 for the upcoming academic year,” he stated. “Additionally, the commission has decided to move from an open-choice exam format to a close-choice format, giving students 100 percent options in their exams.”
