Karachi Administration Bans Public From Going to Beaches Due to Cyclone in Arabian Sea

Local authorities in Karachi have imposed a three-day ban on public access to beaches and coastlines in response to the threat of an approaching storm.

The decision was made following heavy rains and several warnings from the Meteorological Department. Commissioner Karachi has implemented Section 144, prohibiting access to beaches and coastal areas from today until August 31.

The ban prohibits all beach activities, such as swimming, diving, and sightseeing, based on advice from Deputy Commissioners of South and Kemari districts. Authorities have been instructed to enforce the ban strictly, with violators facing strict consequences.

Karachi experienced varied rainfall in the past 24 hours, with Gulshan Hadeed recording the highest at 62mm.

Over the last 72 hours, Gulshan Hadeed has accumulated 128mm of rain. From August 27 to 5 pm yesterday, Surjani Town recorded 30mm, Nazimabad 26mm, and Kemari 21mm.

Other areas reported: Faisal Base 14mm, Orangi 13.1mm, Saddar 13mm, Meteorological Complex 12.2mm, Old Airport 11.6mm, Gulshan Mamar 11.1mm, Jinnah Terminal 9.6mm, PAF Masroor Base 9mm, and Korangi 8.2mm.
