Zarrar Hasham Khan assumed charge as Secretary IT and Telecom on Wednesday, marking a new chapter in the ministry’s leadership. He was welcomed by high officials of the Ministry of IT, who greeted him warmly and provided an initial briefing on the ministry’s affairs. As he settled into his new role, Khan sought separate briefings from the heads of all departments within the ministry, demonstrating his commitment to understanding the intricacies of the organization.
Khan’s appointment was made through an open market process, and he was selected from a shortlist of three candidates by a Selection Board headed by Federal Minister Ahad Cheema. His expertise and experience in the telecom industry make him an ideal candidate for the position.
With over 20 years of experience in the telecom industry, Khan has worked with leading telecom service providers, including Saudi Telecom Company (STC) and Mobilink GSM – PMCL (currently known as Jazz Pakistan). His background in investment banking and experience in strategy development, technology operations, and customer experience management will undoubtedly serve him well in his new role.
As Secretary IT and Telecom, Khan is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the country’s IT and telecom policy, driving growth and innovation in the sector. His leadership is eagerly anticipated by industry stakeholders, who hope to see significant progress in the coming months.
