Islamabad has seen a sharp rise in dengue cases, with infections climbing from 111 to 1,404 between September 9 and October 2.
In response, the Ministry of National Health Services and Regulations has issued a warning about the increased risk of dengue transmission, largely attributed to heavy rainfall and favorable weather conditions.
Dr. Zaeem Zia, District Health Officer (DHO) of Islamabad, highlighted that most breeding grounds for dengue larvae are found in homes, under-construction buildings, and public spaces.
To address the situation, health teams have launched extensive efforts, including Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) and public awareness campaigns on dengue prevention.
Dengue fever symptoms include high fever, headaches, joint pain, and a drop in platelet levels. If untreated, the illness can become life-threatening. Health authorities have directed medical facilities to set up special counters for dengue cases and urged the public to seek prompt medical care if symptoms occur.
