Weather Department Predicts Rain in Different Parts of Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast predicting significant weather changes in the upper regions of the country from October 5 to 8, with rain and thunderstorms expected. However, the weather in Sindh is expected to remain hot and dry throughout this period.

Rain in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)

According to PMD, a westerly weather system is likely to approach the northern parts of the country by October 5. Under its influence, various areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will experience rain accompanied by wind and thunderstorms.

Areas such as Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Peshawar, Swabi, Charsadda, and Nowshera are expected to be affected. Isolated heavy rainfall and hailstorms may also occur in these regions.

Rain in Other KP Regions

Meanwhile, other parts of KP, including Mardan, Kurram, Orakzai, Kohat, Hangu, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Waziristan, and Dera Ismail Khan, are predicted to experience rain with occasional breaks from October 5 to 7.

Weather in Punjab and Islamabad

The federal capital, Islamabad, along with Rawalpindi and several cities in Punjab, will also witness rain and thunderstorms. Cities expected to receive rain include Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, and Faisalabad. Rain in these regions is expected from October 5 to 8, with occasional gaps.

Southern Punjab cities such as Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, and Bhakkar will likely experience rainy weather between October 6 and 8.

Rain in Azad Kashmir

In Azad Kashmir, areas including Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur are also forecasted to receive rain and thunderstorms, with isolated moderate to heavy rainfall and hailstorms, from October 5 to 8.

Rain in Gilgit-Baltistan

In Gilgit-Baltistan, regions such as Diamir, Astore, Skardu, Gilgit, Hunza, Ghanche, and Shigar will see similar weather patterns, with heavy rainfall expected in some areas from October 5 to 8.

Rain in Balochistan

The weather forecast for Balochistan includes rain and thunderstorms in cities such as Quetta, Zhob, Barkhan, Lasbella, Panjgur, and Awaran, primarily on October 6 and 7.

Precautions and Possible Impacts

The PMD has highlighted several potential impacts of the expected weather:

  • Increased water flow in local streams and nullahs, particularly in Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kohistan, Chitral, Gilgit-Baltistan, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Shangla, Bajaur, Mohmand, and Khyber, could occur.
  • Landslides may disrupt road access in vulnerable areas of upper KP, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
  • Windstorms and lightning could damage weak structures like kacha houses, billboards, electric poles, vehicles, and solar panels.
  • Farmers are advised to adjust their activities in light of the weather conditions.
  • Travellers and tourists are urged to remain cautious and plan their journeys accordingly, especially during the wet spell, to avoid any dangerous situations.

The PMD has also advised all concerned authorities to stay on alert and take necessary steps to mitigate any potential risks. Any significant changes to the forecast will be updated as needed.
