New Parking System Announced for 3 Famous Malls in Dubai

Starting January 1, 2025, a new paid parking system will be implemented at three major malls in Dubai, including the Mall of the Emirates (MoE), as announced on Wednesday.

Parkin Company, Dubai’s primary public parking operator, has partnered with developer Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) Properties to introduce “barrierless parking” at MoE, City Centre Deira, and City Centre Mirdif. Despite this new system, parking fees at the malls will remain unchanged under a five-year contract, according to Parkin.

How the new system will work: With Parkin’s seamless parking technology, visitors will no longer need to stop at barriers when entering or exiting mall parking lots. Advanced cameras will automatically capture license plates, monitoring each vehicle’s entry, progress, and length of stay.

Upon entering, drivers will receive an SMS or a notification via the Parkin app detailing the parking charges. They will be able to pay through the app or on Parkin’s website.

This new system is expected to streamline access for more than 20 million vehicles annually across the three malls, which collectively offer 21,000 parking spaces.

“Our smart systems will reduce congestion and improve traffic flow, enhancing the customer experience at some of Dubai’s busiest retail locations,” said Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali, CEO of Parkin.

Parkin, a publicly traded company on the Dubai Financial Market, announced earlier this year its plans to expand services to privately owned sites such as malls, airports, and other high-traffic areas.

This is not Dubai’s first barrierless parking system; a similar setup is already in place at some areas of Dubai Mall, operated by Salik, where parking fees are automatically deducted from Salik user accounts.
