As reported by 24NewsHD TV, the Punjab government has decided to outsource basic health units (BHUs) across the province.
Sources indicate that the Department of Primary and Secondary Health Care will outsource 150 BHUs in the initial phase. Among these, approximately 100 will operate during routine hours, while 50 will offer services 24/7.
In Lahore, eight BHUs will be contracted out in this first phase. The government plans to allocate Rs 500,000 annually for the maintenance of each health center.
To kickstart the project, the Department of Primary Health has requested Rs 1.5 billion from the Provincial Finance Ministry.
