Rs. 1.8 Billion Approved for Maintenance of President and PM’s Jets

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the federal cabinet has approved a technical supplementary grant of Rs 1.8 billion for engine overhauls on two VVIP aircraft used by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for state duties, as reported by ARY News.

The ECC meeting, chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, reviewed various sector proposals.

According to an official statement, “The ECC considered and approved a Technical Supplementary Grant of Rs 1.8 billion to the Ministry of Defence for the overhaul of engines of two VVIP aircraft used for state duties with the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan.”

The ECC also examined a proposal from the Ministry of National Food Security & Research regarding allocating domestic and imported wheat stocks from PASSCO for wheat-deficient regions/agencies for Food Year 2024-25. After a thorough discussion, the ECC decided that PASSCO would distribute domestic and imported wheat based on an allocation ratio set on February 1, 2024. All seven wheat-deficit areas would lift the grain based on their demand for Food Year 2024-25, with quality and fitness testing required before distribution.

Additionally, the ECC approved a proposal from the Ministry of Interior for a Technical Supplementary Grant of Rs 252.711 million—reallocated from the Ministry of Housing and Works—to the Capital Development Authority to ensure uninterrupted civic services at the Prime Minister’s Office (Public), Prime Minister’s Office Internal, and the Prime Minister’s Staff Colony.

The ECC also approved Rs 2.939 billion as a Technical Supplementary Grant for the Director General of Immigration & Passports. This funding will be used to purchase two e-Passport personalization systems and six desktop personalization machines to ensure seamless official operations in the public interest.
