Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has initiated the process of appointing a new CEO as the tenure of current CEO Amir Hayat comes to an end.
According to an advertisement released by the airline, eligible candidates must be between 45 and 57 years old with 20 years of experience managing large organizations or at least 10 years in the aviation industry.
Interested candidates have a 15-day window from the advertisement’s publication to submit their applications.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government has backtracked on its initial interest in acquiring PIA, as Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari clarified at a press conference that there were no intentions from the provincial government to pursue ownership of the airline.
“Mian Nawaz Sharif never indicated that Punjab would purchase PIA,” she stated in Lahore.
In contrast, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur remains determined to bid for the national carrier, following a below-expectation bid from the Blue World City consortium.
Gandapur emphasized that his government is prepared to outbid the existing Rs. 10 billion offer, confident in KP’s financial standing. “KP has increased its revenue by 44%, meeting IMF targets successfully,” he asserted, underscoring the province’s readiness to secure PIA ownership.
