The Passport Department has successfully installed ten advanced passport printers, boosting daily production capacity from 20,000 to 40,000 passports, according to DG Passports Mustafa Jamal Qazi.
This expansion aims to address the backlog and improve processing times, he told the media. Qazi highlighted that, along with the newly installed printers, seven more cutting-edge machines will soon be added at passport headquarters.
These additions are expected to enhance the department’s operational efficiency even further. Moreover, two specialized printers specifically for e-passports have also been acquired to keep up with the growing demand for electronic passports.
With the upgraded capacity, Qazi expressed confidence that the department is now well-prepared to handle the surge in passport requests and effectively reduce delays.
