In a bid to streamline road travel and reduce congestion, the National Highway Authority (NHA) is considering the introduction of electronic toll plazas across major highways.
Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, proposed the shift from traditional toll booths to automated systems that will allow vehicles to pass through without having to stop.
The new system, which uses electronic tags for toll collection, promises to significantly cut down on wait times at toll points, offering a smoother, faster travel experience.
By eliminating the need for cash transactions and long queues, the electronic toll plazas will make travel more efficient, especially during peak hours.
This move aligns with global trends in transport automation, and the NHA is optimistic that the introduction of e-tolling will not only improve daily commutes but also contribute to more sustainable road management practices in the long run.
