RDA Takes Charge of Rawalpindi Ring Road Project

The Rawalpindi Ring Road project will now be supervised by the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) after the closure of the Project Management Unit (PMU). Since December 2, RDA will be officially responsible for overseeing the project.

RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza stated that the PMU officials had resigned, and all project-related records had been transferred to the RDA.

She explained that the PMU was established in 2019 and was maintained by the caretaker government. However, the government decided it was more practical for the RDA to manage the project directly, avoiding the additional costs associated with PMU salaries and operations.

To ensure smooth management, the RDA has assigned its own engineering and financial departments to take charge of the project. According to Murtaza, payments for the project will continue without delay once funds are available. She emphasized that the contractor’s work will be regularly inspected to ensure compliance with the project plan.

Daily monitoring of the project will be conducted by the engineering department. The Punjab government has also directed the RDA to maintain high-quality standards and complete the project within the specified timeline. However, the completion date may be extended to September 2025.
