Crackdown Against Token Tax Defaulters Started in Islamabad

The Excise and Taxation (E&T) Department in Islamabad has announced plans to crack down on vehicles with unpaid token taxes starting next year. The department has introduced online and in-person token tax payments to facilitate vehicle owners and streamline the payment process.

The Director of the Excise and Taxation Department stated that extended payment hours have been introduced to make it easier for citizens to fulfill their obligations. A dedicated counter at the local Excise office will remain open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Additionally, vehicle owners can pay their token tax online through the Islamabad City App, provided they hold a smart card. This round-the-clock online service allows citizens to pay their dues conveniently without visiting the office.

To ensure compliance, the department has decided to cancel the registration of vehicles whose owners fail to pay the token tax. Vehicle owners are strongly encouraged to use these services to avoid penalties and maintain their registration status.
