A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight bound for Lahore had to make an emergency landing at Dammam International Airport in Saudi Arabia on Thursday morning shortly after takeoff.
According to sources, flight PK 244 departed from Dammam but soon after takeoff, the pilot identified an issue with the aircraft’s communication system. The pilot promptly informed air traffic control and requested permission to return for an emergency landing.
A PIA spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating that the flight experienced a communication system malfunction. After landing, the plane was inspected by engineers, who found no significant faults.
“The flight has now resumed its journey and is expected to reach Lahore within the hour,” the spokesperson added.
In related news, PIA recently restarted direct flights to Paris, marking the end of a four-year suspension imposed due to security concerns.
