Sindh Asks Federal Govt to Allow Feasibility Study for Keti Bander Port

The Sindh government has requested the federal government to extend support to Pakistan Gas Solutions Limited (PGSL) for obtaining the necessary permissions to conduct a feasibility study for the Keti Bander.

According to details, the Energy Department of the Government of Sindh has written a letter to the Federal Secretary Ministry of Maritime Affairs regarding the Development of Keti Bunder Port for handling LNG, RLNG, LPG, containers, and general cargo.

Pakistan Gas Solutions Limited (PGSL) vide letter dated 10 July 2034, addressed to Chief Minister, Sindh, showed its interest in developing Keti Bunder Port for handling LNG, RING, Containers, and general cargo and sought permission to conduct a detailed feasibility study to assess the viability of developing the Fort.

The matter was placed before the Sindh Cabinet, which in its meeting held on 04 Dec. 2024 examined the proposal of M/s. PGSL and accorded necessary permission in their favour for conducting feasibility study.

Subsequent to the approval granted by the Provincial Cabinet, Energy Department, the Government of Sindh issued a Letter of Support containing elaborative conditions to PGSL, allowing them to conduct a feasibility study for the development of Keti Bunder Port at their own cost and risk, without any financial obligation on the part of the Government of Sindh.

If the implementation is allowed by the Government of Sindh, after approval of the feasibility Report, the Government of Sindh will negotiate the terms and conditions of an Implementation Agreement to be signed between the Government of Sindh and M/s POSL for project implementation.

The Sindh government asked the Ministry of Maritime Affairs to extend support to M/s. PGSL in obtaining necessary permissions/NOCs for the conduct of feasibility study under relevant laws, rules, and policy.
