WhatsApp introduced multi-account support for Android users in October 2023, allowing users to run two different WhatsApp accounts simultaneously on the same smartphone. This eliminated the need for app cloning or workarounds like using the WhatsApp Business app. However, iPhone users have been left out of this feature.
According to WABetaInfo, the feature is finally on its way to iOS as WhatsApp is currently testing multi-account functionality for iPhones. Developers expect the functionality to work similarly on iOS, offering seamless support for multiple numbers on a single device.
Developers discovered WhatsApp’s multi-account support for iPhone in version 25.2.10.70 of the beta app for iOS. Although WhatsApp has identified the feature, it has not yet made it available to beta users. Developers plan to enable testing in future beta updates and will roll out the feature globally to all iOS users after thorough testing.
Developers have not announced an official release date, but the ongoing development and testing phase suggest the feature may take several months to become widely available to iPhone users. When launched, this update will bring iPhones on par with Android devices regarding multi-account functionality, addressing a key gap for users who manage personal and business accounts on the same phone.
Other features coming for WhatsApp iOS users include a new phone call dialer to make phone calls directly from WhatsApp without having to leave the app, new privacy features, and more.
